For most urban buyers who want an automatic, compare the GLI CVT with the ATIV CVT feature by feature before paying the unusually large step. Choose the 1.5 ATIV X for its stronger engine and confirmed premium equipment—not simply because it is the top badge.

Toyota Indus currently displays six Yaris listings from PKR 4,649,000 to PKR 6,049,000. The two 1.5 ATIV X entries are the same engine and transmission with beige or black interior treatments; they are not separate powertrains. Prices are suggested retail prices ex-factory Karachi, while withholding tax and on-road charges remain additional. [1]
Toyota's current data lists the 1.3 GLI CVT at PKR 4,809,000. CarRates has corrected the earlier PKR 4,769,000 entry; the remaining five listed prices are unchanged.

Why the ATIV CVT jump needs scrutiny
The GLI manual-to-CVT step is PKR 160,000, but the ATIV manual-to-CVT step is PKR 890,000. Toyota's page labels the first three grades with 18 percent sales tax and the ATIV CVT and 1.5 ATIV X grades with 25 percent sales tax. That tax treatment helps explain why this is not a normal transmission-only price gap. [1]
Do not assume the extra amount buys only a CVT. Request Toyota's current variant sheet and compare wheels, lighting, infotainment, camera, interior trim and convenience equipment on the exact cars. Calculate the full on-road difference because percentage-based taxes and insurance magnify the higher ex-factory price.
1.3 or 1.5: use the numbers carefully
Toyota's specifications list the 1.3-litre engine at 73 kW (97.8 hp) and 123 Nm, while the 1.5-litre is listed at 79 kW (105.9 hp) and 140 Nm. The larger engine therefore adds 6 kW and 17 Nm on the official figures. It may feel less strained with passengers or motorway merging, but those numbers do not replace a test drive. [2]
Both engine families use the same basic 4,425 mm body, 2,550 mm wheelbase and 476-litre luggage figure. The 1.5 ATIV X decision is primarily about performance response and equipment rather than receiving a larger cabin. [2]
Safety is stronger than an entry-price assumption suggests
Toyota's current model page highlights three SRS airbags, vehicle stability control, traction control, hill-start assist and ISOFIX. The official specification sheet also lists ABS, EBD and brake assist. Confirm that the delivered production month matches the current specification, especially if a dealer is offering older stock. The 1.5 ATIV X specification lists features such as cruise control, a rear camera, push start, smart key, automatic climate control and a 9-inch display. Verify each item against the dealer's current Pakistan sheet rather than relying on a generic showroom description. [2]
Who should shortlist each grade?
The 1.3 GLI manual is the price-led choice when an automatic is unnecessary. The GLI CVT is the rational automatic starting point because its listed premium over the manual is comparatively small. The ATIV grades need a feature-by-feature calculation: the manual sits only PKR 60,000 above GLI CVT, while ATIV CVT jumps much further.
Choose the 1.5 ATIV X when the stronger output and its confirmed convenience equipment matter enough to justify roughly PKR 1.23–1.28 million over GLI CVT. Beige versus black interior is a preference decision; inspect the exact vehicle because interior colour, heat, cleaning and resale appeal are personal rather than technical advantages.
